Ming Lei e7f6e3c9db driver core: fix race between creating/querying glue dir and its cleanup
commit cebf8fd16900fdfd58c0028617944f808f97fe50 upstream.

The global mutex of 'gdp_mutex' is used to serialize creating/querying
glue dir and its cleanup. Turns out it isn't a perfect way because
part(kobj_kset_leave()) of the actual cleanup action() is done inside
the release handler of the glue dir kobject. That means gdp_mutex has
to be held before releasing the last reference count of the glue dir
kobject.

This patch moves glue dir's cleanup after kobject_del() in device_del()
for avoiding the race.

Jiri Slaby 19a98b0bd8 base: make module_create_drivers_dir race-free
commit 7e1b1fc4dabd6ec8e28baa0708866e13fa93c9b3 upstream.

Modules which register drivers via standard path (driver_register) in
parallel can cause a warning:
WARNING: CPU: 2 PID: 3492 at ../fs/sysfs/dir.c:31 sysfs_warn_dup+0x62/0x80

 [<ffffffffa0033011>] hexium_init_module+0x11/0x1000 [hexium_gemini]
...

As can be (mostly) seen, driver_register causes this call sequence:
  -> bus_add_driver
    -> module_add_driver
      -> module_create_drivers_dir
The last one creates "drivers" directory in /sys/module/<...>. When
this is done in parallel, the directory is attempted to be created
twice at the same time.

This can be easily reproduced by loading mxb and hexium_gemini in
parallel:
while :; do
  modprobe mxb &
  modprobe hexium_gemini
  wait
  rmmod mxb hexium_gemini saa7146_vv saa7146
done

saa7146 calls pci_register_driver for both mxb and hexium_gemini,
which means /sys/module/saa7146/drivers is to be created for both of
them.

Fix this by a new mutex in module_create_drivers_dir which makes the
test-and-create "drivers" dir atomic.

I inverted the condition and removed 'return' to avoid multiple
unlocks or a goto.

commit 176fc2d5770a0990eebff903ba680d2edd32e718 upstream.

The in kernel snprintf() will conveniently return the actual length of
the printed string even if not given an output beffer at all so just do
that rather than relying on the user to pass in a suitable buffer,
ensuring that we don't need to worry if the buffer was truncated due to

Grant Likely 6ae99d59c8 drivercore: Fix unregistration path of platform devices
commit 7f5dcaf1fdf289767a126a0a5cc3ef39b5254b06 upstream.

The unregister path of platform_device is broken. On registration, it
will register all resources with either a parent already set, or
type==IORESOURCE_{IO,MEM}. However, on unregister it will release
everything with type==IORESOURCE_{IO,MEM}, but ignore the others. There
are also cases where resources don't get registered in the first place,
like with devices created by of_platform_populate()*.

Fix the unregister path to be symmetrical with the register path by
checking the parent pointer instead of the type field to decide which
resources to unregister. This is safe because the upshot of the
registration path algorithm is that registered resources have a parent
pointer, and non-registered resources do not.

* It can be argued that of_platform_populate() should be registering
  it's resources, and they argument has some merit. However, there are
  quite a few platforms that end up broken if we try to do that due to
  overlapping resources in the device tree. Until that is fixed, we need
  to solve the immediate problem.

Linus Torvalds 27dbfee9cf Fix firmware loader uevent buffer NULL pointer dereference
commit 6f957724b94cb19f5c1c97efd01dd4df8ced323c upstream.

The firmware class uevent function accessed the "fw_priv->buf" buffer
without the proper locking and testing for NULL. This is an old bug
(looks like it goes back to 2012 and commit 1244691c73b2: "firmware
loader: introduce firmware_buf"), but for some reason it's triggering
only now in 4.2-rc1.

Shuah Khan is trying to bisect what it is that causes this to trigger
more easily, but in the meantime let's just fix the bug since others are
hitting it too (at least Ingo reports having seen it as well).

Merge commit 'v3.10.67' into LA.BF64.1.2.9

Alex Williamson bdf2a0db17 driver core: Fix unbalanced device reference in drivers_probe
commit bb34cb6bbd287b57e955bc5cfd42fcde6aaca279 upstream.

bus_find_device_by_name() acquires a device reference which is never
released. This results in an object leak, which on older kernels
results in failure to release all resources of PCI devices. libvirt
uses drivers_probe to re-attach devices to the host after assignment
and is therefore a common trigger for this leak.

cpus in a cluster. It thus provides convenient means to disable

Yijing Wang afb16d3e8e sysfs: driver core: Fix glue dir race condition by gdp_mutex
commit e4a60d139060975eb956717e4f63ae348d4d8cc5 upstream.

There is a race condition when removing glue directory.
It can be reproduced in following test:

path 1: Add first child device
device_add()
    get_device_parent()
            /*find parent from glue_dirs.list*/
            list_for_each_entry(k, &dev->class->p->glue_dirs.list, entry)
                    if (k->parent == parent_kobj) {
                            kobj = kobject_get(k);
                            break;
                    }
            ....
            class_dir_create_and_add()

path2: Remove last child device under glue dir
device_del()
    cleanup_device_parent()
            cleanup_glue_dir()
                    kobject_put(glue_dir);

If path2 has been called cleanup_glue_dir(), but not
call kobject_put(glue_dir), the glue dir is still
in parent's kset list. Meanwhile, path1 find the glue
dir from the glue_dirs.list. Path2 may release glue dir
before path1 call kobject_get(). So kernel will report
the warning and bug_on.

This is a "classic" problem we have of a kref in a list
that can be found while the last instance could be removed
at the same time.

This patch reuse gdp_mutex to fix this race condition.

The following calltrace is captured in kernel 3.4, but
the latest kernel still has this bug.

Srivatsa Vaddagiri ed7d7749e9 sched: per-cpu mostly_idle threshold
sched_mostly_idle_load and sched_mostly_idle_nr_run knobs help pack
tasks on cpus to some extent. In some cases, it may be desirable to
have different packing limits for different cpus. For example, pack to
a higher limit on high-performance cpus compared to power-efficient
cpus.

This patch removes the global mostly_idle tunables and makes them
per-cpu, thus letting task packing behavior to be controlled in a
fine-grained manner.

commit 2c98e0c1cc6b8e86f1978286c3d4e0769ee9d733 upstream.

If 'map->dev' is NULL and there will lead dev_name() to be NULL pointer
dereference. So before dev_name(), we need to have check of the map->dev
pionter.

We also should make sure that the 'name' pointer shouldn't be NULL for

Neeti Desai 9ccb66aade cma: Add support for cma_get_size
HLOS assumes the size of the CMA based heaps is equal to the
size specified with the "linux-contiguous-region" property.
This is not always true, and CMA might reserve more memory
to take care of alignment. This causes the secure world to
lockdown more memory than it is supposed to, thus denying
access to clients. The cma_get_size api returns the correct
size which is reserved for these heaps, thus preventing
client access issues.

Mark Brown 070fdd7aac regmap: Fix handling of volatile registers for format_write() chips
commit 5844a8b9d98ec11ce1d77610daacf3f0a0e14715 upstream.

A previous over-zealous factorisation of code means that we only treat
registers as volatile if they are readable. For most devices this is fine
since normally most registers can be read and volatility implies
readability but for format_write() devices where there is no readback from
the hardware and we use volatility to mean simply uncacheability this means
that we end up treating all registers as cacheble.

A bigger refactoring of the code to clarify this is in order but as a fix
make a minimal change and only check readability when checking volatility
if there is no format_write() operation defined for the device.

  drm/radeon: fix typo in golden register setup on evergreen
  ext4: disable synchronous transaction batching if max_batch_time==0
  ext4: clarify error count warning messages
  ext4: fix unjournalled bg descriptor while initializing inode bitmap
  dm io: fix a race condition in the wake up code for sync_io
  Drivers: hv: vmbus: Fix a bug in the channel callback dispatch code
  clk: spear3xx: Use proper control register offset
  ...

In addition to bringing in upstream commits, this merge also makes minor
changes to mainitain compatibility with upstream:

The definition of list_next_entry in qcrypto.c and ipa_dp.c has been
removed, as upstream has moved the definition to list.h. The implementation
of list_next_entry was identical between the two.

irq.c, for both arm and arm64 architecture, has had its calls to
__irq_set_affinity_locked updated to reflect changes to the API upstream.

Finally, as we have removed the sleep_length member variable of the
tick_sched struct, all changes made by upstream commit ec804bd do not
apply to our tree and have been removed from this merge. Only
kernel/time/tick-sched.c is impacted.

Ard Biesheuvel a4ba4d7c5d cpu: add generic support for CPU feature based module autoloading
This patch adds support for advertising optional CPU features over udev
using the modalias, and for declaring compatibility with/dependency upon
such a feature in a module.

The mapping between feature numbers and actual features should be provided
by the architecture in a file called <asm/cpufeature.h> which exports the
following functions/macros:
- cpu_feature(FEAT), a preprocessor macro that maps token FEAT to a
  numeric index;
- bool cpu_have_feature(n), returning whether this CPU has support for
  feature #n;
- MAX_CPU_FEATURES, an upper bound for 'n' in the previous function.

The feature can then be enabled by setting CONFIG_GENERIC_CPU_AUTOPROBE
for the architecture.

For instance, a module that registers its module init function using

  module_cpu_feature_match(FEAT_X, module_init_function)

will be probed automatically when the CPU's support for the 'FEAT_X'
feature is advertised over udev, and will only allow the module to be
loaded by hand if the 'FEAT_X' feature is supported.

Sudeep KarkadaNagesha 57be4bd8dc driver/core: cpu: initialize of_node in cpu's device struture
CPUs are also registered as devices but the of_node in these cpu
devices are not initialized. Currently different drivers requiring
to access cpu device node are parsing the nodes themselves and
initialising the of_node in cpu device.

The of_node in all the cpu devices needs to be initialized properly
and at one place. The best place to update this is CPU subsystem
driver when registering the cpu devices.

The OF/DT core library now provides of_get_cpu_node to retrieve a cpu
device node for a given logical index by abstracting the architecture
specific details.

This patch uses of_get_cpu_node to assign of_node when registering the
cpu devices.
