Uwe Kleine-König 535c7d6190 rtc: s35390a: improve irq handling
commit 3bd32722c827d00eafe8e6d5b83e9f3148ea7c7e upstream.

On some QNAP NAS devices the rtc can wake the machine. Several people
noticed that once the machine was woken this way it fails to shut down.
That's because the driver fails to acknowledge the interrupt and so it
keeps active and restarts the machine immediatly after shutdown. See
https://bugs.debian.org/794266 for a bug report.

Doing this correctly requires to interpret the INT2 flag of the first read
of the STATUS1 register because this bit is cleared by read.

Note this is not maximally robust though because a pending irq isn't
detected when the STATUS1 register was already read (and so INT2 is not
set) but the irq was not disabled. But that is a hardware imposed problem
that cannot easily be fixed by software.

Uwe Kleine-König df4be7e66b rtc: s35390a: implement reset routine as suggested by the reference
commit 8e6583f1b5d1f5f129b873f1428b7e414263d847 upstream.

There were two deviations from the reference manual: you have to wait
half a second when POC is active and you might have to repeat
initialization when POC or BLD are still set after the sequence.

Note however that as POC and BLD are cleared by read the driver might
not be able to detect that a reset is necessary. I don't have a good
idea how to fix this.

Additionally report the value read from STATUS1 to the caller. This
prepares the next patch.

Uwe Kleine-König 231b0f80d1 rtc: s35390a: make sure all members in the output are set
commit ac4d4f65bbcba478309de36929016d2618421ba1 upstream.

The rtc core calls the .read_alarm with all fields initialized to 0. As
the s35390a driver doesn't touch some fields the returned date is
interpreted as a date in January 1900. So make sure all fields are set
to -1; some of them are then overwritten with the right data depending
on the hardware state.

In mainline this is done by commit d68778b80dd7 ("rtc: initialize output
parameter for read alarm to "uninitialized"") in the core. This is
considered to dangerous for stable as it might have side effects for
other rtc drivers that might for example rely on alarm->time.tm_sec
being initialized to 0.

Colin Ian King 296a1ab22e rtc: interface: ignore expired timers when enqueuing new timers
commit 2b2f5ff00f63847d95adad6289bd8b05f5983dd5 upstream.

This patch fixes a RTC wakealarm issue, namely, the event fires during
hibernate and is not cleared from the list, causing hwclock to block.

The current enqueuing does not trigger an alarm if any expired timers
already exist on the timerqueue. This can occur when a RTC wake alarm
is used to wake a machine out of hibernate and the resumed state has
old expired timers that have not been removed from the timer queue.
This fix skips over any expired timers and triggers an alarm if there
are no pending timers on the timerqueue. Note that the skipped expired
timer will get reaped later on, so there is no need to clean it up
immediately.

The issue can be reproduced by putting a machine into hibernate and
waking it with the RTC wakealarm. Running the example RTC test program
from tools/testing/selftests/timers/rtctest.c after the hibernate will
block indefinitely. With the fix, it no longer blocks after the
hibernate resume.

In addition to bringing in upstream commits, this merge also makes minor
changes to mainitain compatibility with upstream:

The definition of list_next_entry in qcrypto.c and ipa_dp.c has been
removed, as upstream has moved the definition to list.h. The implementation
of list_next_entry was identical between the two.

irq.c, for both arm and arm64 architecture, has had its calls to
__irq_set_affinity_locked updated to reflect changes to the API upstream.

Finally, as we have removed the sleep_length member variable of the
tick_sched struct, all changes made by upstream commit ec804bd do not
apply to our tree and have been removed from this merge. Only
kernel/time/tick-sched.c is impacted.

Boris BREZILLON 4b6b037c15 rtc: rtc-at91rm9200: fix infinite wait for ACKUPD irq
commit 2fe121e1f5aa3bf31b418a9790db6c400e922291 upstream.

The rtc user must wait at least 1 sec between each time/calandar update
(see atmel's datasheet chapter "Updating Time/Calendar").

Use the 1Hz interrupt to update the at91_rtc_upd_rdy flag and wait for
the at91_rtc_wait_upd_rdy event if the rtc is not ready.

This patch fixes a deadlock in an uninterruptible wait when the RTC is
updated more than once every second. AFAICT the bug is here from the
beginning, but I think we should at least backport this fix to 3.10 and
the following longterm and stable releases.

Borislav Petkov 29a1618285 rtc-cmos: Add an alarm disable quirk
commit d5a1c7e3fc38d9c7d629e1e47f32f863acbdec3d upstream.

41c7f74242 ("rtc: Disable the alarm in the hardware (v2)") added the
functionality to disable the RTC wake alarm when shutting down the box.

However, there are at least two b0rked BIOSes we know about:

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=812592
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=805740

where, when wakeup alarm is enabled in the BIOS, the machine reboots
automatically right after shutdown, regardless of what wakeup time is
programmed.

Bisecting the issue lead to this patch so disable its functionality with
a DMI quirk only for those boxes.

Stephen Warren 0ac9f15fbe rtc: max8907: weekday encoding fixes
commit 75ea799df4cb07e505c91b4abaa87bc28aad3e66 upstream.

The current MAX8907 driver has two issues related to weekday value
handling:

1)

The HW WEEKDAY register has range 0..6 rather than 1..7 as documented.
Note that I validated the actual HW range by observing the HW register
roll from 6->0 rather than 6->7->1 as would otherwise be expected.

This matches Linux's tm_wday range of 0..6.

When the CMOS RAM content is lost, the date returned from the device is
2007-01-01 00:00:00, which is a Monday. The WEEKDAY register reads 1 in
this case. This matches the numbering in Linux's tm_wday field.

Hence we should write Linux's tm_wday value to the register without
modifying it. Hence, remove the +1/-1 calculations for WEEKDAY/tm_wday.

2)

There's no need to make alarms match on the WEEKDAY register, since the
other fields together uniquely define the alarm date/time. Ignoring the
WEEKDAY value in the match isolates the driver from any incorrect value in
the current time copy of the WEEKDAY register.

Each change individually, or both together, solves an issue that I
observed; "hwclock -r" would time out waiting for its alarm to fire if the
CMOS RAM content had been lost, and hence the WEEKDAY register value
mismatched what the driver expected it to be. "hwclock -w" would solve
this by over-writing the HW default WEEKDAY register value with what the
driver expected.

Ian Maund f06163e6d0 msm: reap unused kernel files
This change removes source files from the kernel tree that
were not being used during make. The list of used files
was generated using an annotated make log and was then
compared with new files added since the public release of
kernel version 3.10.00. New files which were added but
not used have been removed from the tree.

A diff was also run to determine the list of files that had
been modified since the release of kernel version 3.10.00.
These files were then scrubbed based on the current kernel
configuration, removing invalid and unused conditionals.

Some files which support planned functionality or are
useful in debugging have been excluded from this reap.

Add shadow interrupt-mask register which can be used on SoCs where the

Note that some care needs to be taken to make sure the shadow mask

issue for the non-broken SoCs due to the relatively infrequent

as a fall-back when it actually needed as there is still a theoretical
possibility that the mask is incorrect (see the code for details).

Johan Hovold 558c61e557 rtc-at91rm9200: add match-table compile guard
The members of Atmel's at91sam9x5 family (9x5) have a broken RTC
interrupt mask register (AT91_RTC_IMR). It does not reflect enabled
interrupts but instead always returns zero.

The kernel's rtc-at91rm9200 driver handles the RTC for the 9x5 family.
Currently when the date/time is set, an interrupt is generated and this
driver neglects to handle the interrupt. The kernel complains about the
un-handled interrupt and disables it henceforth. This not only breaks
the RTC function, but since that interrupt is shared (Atmel's SYS
interrupt) then other things break as well (e.g. the debug port no
longer accepts characters).

Tested on the at91sam9g25. Bug confirmed by Atmel.

This patch (of 5):

Add missing match-table compile guard.

Tony Lindgren 24b8256a1f drivers/rtc/rtc-twl.c: fix missing device_init_wakeup() when booted with device tree
When booted in legacy mode device_init_wakeup() gets called by
drivers/mfd/twl-core.c when the children are initialized. However, when
booted using device tree, the children are created with
of_platform_populate() instead add_children().

This means that the RTC driver will not have device_init_wakeup() set,
and we need to call it from the driver probe like RTC drivers typically
do.

Without this we cannot test PM wake-up events on omaps for cases where
there may not be any physical wake-up event.

Derek Basehore ebf8d6c863 drivers/rtc/rtc-cmos.c: fix accidentally enabling rtc channel
During resume, we call hpet_rtc_timer_init after masking an irq bit in
hpet. This will cause the call to hpet_disable_rtc_channel to be undone
if RTC_AIE is the only bit not masked.

Allowing the cmos interrupt handler to run before resuming caused some
issues where the timer for the alarm was not removed. This would cause
other, later timers to not be cleared, so utilities such as hwclock
would time out when waiting for the update interrupt.

Linus Torvalds e51066824a Merge branch 'devm_no_resource_check' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/wsa/linux
Pull devm usage cleanup from Wolfram Sang:
"Lately, I have been experimenting how to improve the devm interface to
make writing device drivers easier and less error prone while also
getting rid of its subtle issues. I think it has more potential but
still needs work and definately conistency, especiall in its usage.

The first thing I come up with is a low hanging fruit regarding
devm_ioremap_resouce(). This function already checks if the passed
resource is valid and gives an error message if not. So, we can
remove similar checks from the drivers and get rid of a bit of code
and a number of inconsistent error strings.

This series only removes the unneeded check iff devm_ioremap_resource
follows platform_get_resource directly. The previous version tried to
shuffle code if needed, too, what lead to an embarrasing bug. It
turned out to me that shuffling code for all cases found will make the
automated script too complex, so I am unsure if an automated cleanup
is the proper tool for this case. Removing the easy stuff seems
  worthwhile to me, though.

Despite various architectures and platform dependencies, I managed to
compile test 45 out of 57 modified files locally using heuristics and
  defconfigs."

Linus Torvalds cc51bf6e6d Merge branch 'timers-urgent-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip
Pull timer fixes from Thomas Gleixner:

 - Cure for not using zalloc in the first place, which leads to random
   crashes with CPUMASK_OFF_STACK.

 - Revert a user space visible change which broke udev

 - Add a missing cpu_online early return introduced by the new full
   dyntick conversions

 - Plug a long standing race in the timer wheel cpu hotplug code.
   Sigh...

 - Cleanup NOHZ per cpu data on cpu down to prevent stale data on cpu
   up.

John Stultz b4f711ee03 time: Revert ALWAYS_USE_PERSISTENT_CLOCK compile time optimizaitons
Kay Sievers noted that the ALWAYS_USE_PERSISTENT_CLOCK config,
which enables some minor compile time optimization to avoid
uncessary code in mostly the suspend/resume path could cause
problems for userland.

In particular, the dependency for RTC_HCTOSYS on
!ALWAYS_USE_PERSISTENT_CLOCK, which avoids setting the time
twice and simplifies suspend/resume, has the side effect
of causing the /sys/class/rtc/rtcN/hctosys flag to always be
zero, and this flag is commonly used by udev to setup the
/dev/rtc symlink to /dev/rtcN, which can cause pain for
older applications.

While the udev rules could use some work to be less fragile,
breaking userland should strongly be avoided. Additionally
the compile time optimizations are fairly minor, and the code
being optimized is likely to be reworked in the future, so
lets revert this change.

Linus Torvalds 99c6bcf46d ARM: arm-soc multiplatform updates for 3.10
More multiplatform enablement for ARM platforms. The ones converted in
 this branch are:
 - bcm2835
 - cns3xxx
 - sirf
 - nomadik
 - msx
 - spear
 - tegra
 - ux500

We're getting close to having most of them converted!

One of the larger platforms remaining is Samsung Exynos, and there are
a bunch of supporting patches in this merge window for it. There was a
patch in this branch to a early version of multiplatform conversion,
but it ended up being reverted due to need of more bake time. The
revert commit is part of the branch since it would have required
rebasing multiple dependent branches and they were stable by then.
