Joe Maples 353f0539b5 micro-optimization: Use DSTRLEN to remove incorrect strlen uses
strlen is often used incorectly to get the length of strings
defined at compile time. In these cases, the behavior can be
replicated with sizeof(X) - 1, which is calculated at compile
time rather than runtime, reducing overhead. I've created a
simple macro to replace these instances and applied it to all
the files compiled into the angler kernel.

Liping Zhang 159c95bdb5 netfilter: nf_ct_ext: fix possible panic after nf_ct_extend_unregister
commit 9c3f3794926a997b1cab6c42480ff300efa2d162 upstream.

If one cpu is doing nf_ct_extend_unregister while another cpu is doing
__nf_ct_ext_add_length, then we may hit BUG_ON(t == NULL). Moreover,
there's no synchronize_rcu invocation after set nf_ct_ext_types[id] to
NULL, so it's possible that we may access invalid pointer.

But actually, most of the ct extends are built-in, so the problem listed
above will not happen. However, there are two exceptions: NF_CT_EXT_NAT
and NF_CT_EXT_SYNPROXY.

For _EXT_NAT, the panic will not happen, since adding the nat extend and
unregistering the nat extend are located in the same file(nf_nat_core.c),
this means that after the nat module is removed, we cannot add the nat
extend too.

For _EXT_SYNPROXY, synproxy extend may be added by init_conntrack, while
synproxy extend unregister will be done by synproxy_core_exit. So after
nf_synproxy_core.ko is removed, we may still try to add the synproxy
extend, then kernel panic may happen.

I know it's very hard to reproduce this issue, but I can play a tricky
game to make it happen very easily :)

Step 1. Enable SYNPROXY for tcp dport 1234 at FORWARD hook:
  # iptables -I FORWARD -p tcp --dport 1234 -j SYNPROXY
Step 2. Queue the syn packet to the userspace at raw table OUTPUT hook.
        Also note, in the userspace we only add a 20s' delay, then
        reinject the syn packet to the kernel:
  # iptables -t raw -I OUTPUT -p tcp --syn -j NFQUEUE --queue-num 1
Step 3. Using "nc 2.2.2.2 1234" to connect the server.
Step 4. Now remove the nf_synproxy_core.ko quickly:
  # iptables -F FORWARD
  # rmmod ipt_SYNPROXY
  # rmmod nf_synproxy_core
Step 5. After 20s' delay, the syn packet is reinjected to the kernel.

Now you will see the panic like this:
  kernel BUG at net/netfilter/nf_conntrack_extend.c:91!
  Call Trace:
   ? __nf_ct_ext_add_length+0x53/0x3c0 [nf_conntrack]

One possible solution is to make NF_CT_EXT_SYNPROXY extend built-in, i.e.
introduce nf_conntrack_synproxy.c and only do ct extend register and
unregister in it, similar to nf_conntrack_timeout.c.

But having such a obscure restriction of nf_ct_extend_unregister is not a
good idea, so we should invoke synchronize_rcu after set nf_ct_ext_types
to NULL, and check the NULL pointer when do __nf_ct_ext_add_length. Then
it will be easier if we add new ct extend in the future.

Last, we use kfree_rcu to free nf_ct_ext, so rcu_barrier() is unnecessary
anymore, remove it too.

Liping Zhang 09ab11ebb7 netfilter: invoke synchronize_rcu after set the _hook_ to NULL
commit 3b7dabf029478bb80507a6c4500ca94132a2bc0b upstream.

Otherwise, another CPU may access the invalid pointer. For example:
    CPU0                CPU1
     -              rcu_read_lock();
     -              pfunc = _hook_;
  _hook_ = NULL;          -
  mod unload              -
     -                 pfunc(); // invalid, panic
     -             rcu_read_unlock();

So we must call synchronize_rcu() to wait the rcu reader to finish.

Also note, in nf_nat_snmp_basic_fini, synchronize_rcu() will be invoked
by later nf_conntrack_helper_unregister, but I'm inclined to add a
explicit synchronize_rcu after set the nf_nat_snmp_hook to NULL. Depend
on such obscure assumptions is not a good idea.

Last, in nfnetlink_cttimeout, we use kfree_rcu to free the time object,
so in cttimeout_exit, invoking rcu_barrier() is not necessary at all,
remove it too.

Julian Anastasov f0dce90508 ipvs: SNAT packet replies only for NATed connections
commit 3c5ab3f395d66a9e4e937fcfdf6ebc63894f028b upstream.

We do not check if packet from real server is for NAT
connection before performing SNAT. This causes problems
for setups that use DR/TUN and allow local clients to
access the real server directly, for example:

- local client in director creates IPVS-DR/TUN connection
CIP->VIP and the request packets are routed to RIP.
Talks are finished but IPVS connection is not expired yet.

- second local client creates non-IPVS connection CIP->RIP
with same reply tuple RIP->CIP and when replies are received
on LOCAL_IN we wrongly assign them for the first client
connection because RIP->CIP matches the reply direction.
As result, IPVS SNATs replies for non-IPVS connections.

The problem is more visible to local UDP clients but in rare
cases it can happen also for TCP or remote clients when the
real server sends the reply traffic via the director.

So, better to be more precise for the reply traffic.
As replies are not expected for DR/TUN connections, better
to not touch them.

Jann Horn b53cc178e2 netfilter: fix namespace handling in nf_log_proc_dostring
commit dbb5918cb333dfeb8897f8e8d542661d2ff5b9a0 upstream.

nf_log_proc_dostring() used current's network namespace instead of the one
corresponding to the sysctl file the write was performed on. Because the
permission check happens at open time and the nf_log files in namespaces
are accessible for the namespace owner, this can be abused by an
unprivileged user to effectively write to the init namespace's nf_log
sysctls.

Stash the "struct net *" in extra2 - data and extra1 are already used.

Michal Kubecek d53b66097e ipvs: count pre-established TCP states as active
commit be2cef49904b34dd5f75d96bbc8cd8341bab1bc0 upstream.

Some users observed that "least connection" distribution algorithm doesn't
handle well bursts of TCP connections from reconnecting clients after
a node or network failure.

This is because the algorithm counts active connection as worth 256
inactive ones where for TCP, "active" only means TCP connections in
ESTABLISHED state. In case of a connection burst, new connections are
handled before previous ones have finished the three way handshaking so
that all are still counted as "inactive", i.e. cheap ones. The become
"active" quickly but at that time, all of them are already assigned to one
real server (or few), resulting in highly unbalanced distribution.

Address this by counting the "pre-established" states as "active".

Florian Westphal 151cc2f5e3 netfilter: x_tables: do compat validation via translate_table
commit 09d9686047dbbe1cf4faa558d3ecc4aae2046054 upstream.

This looks like refactoring, but its also a bug fix.

Problem is that the compat path (32bit iptables, 64bit kernel) lacks a few
sanity tests that are done in the normal path.

For example, we do not check for underflows and the base chain policies.

While its possible to also add such checks to the compat path, its more
copy&pastry, for instance we cannot reuse check_underflow() helper as
e->target_offset differs in the compat case.

Other problem is that it makes auditing for validation errors harder; two
places need to be checked and kept in sync.

At a high level 32 bit compat works like this:
1- initial pass over blob:
   validate match/entry offsets, bounds checking
   lookup all matches and targets
   do bookkeeping wrt. size delta of 32/64bit structures
   assign match/target.u.kernel pointer (points at kernel
   implementation, needed to access ->compatsize etc.)

2- allocate memory according to the total bookkeeping size to
   contain the translated ruleset

3- second pass over original blob:
   for each entry, copy the 32bit representation to the newly allocated
   memory. This also does any special match translations (e.g.
   adjust 32bit to 64bit longs, etc).

4- check if ruleset is free of loops (chase all jumps)

5-first pass over translated blob:
   call the checkentry function of all matches and targets.

The alternative implemented by this patch is to drop steps 3&4 from the
compat process, the translation is changed into an intermediate step
rather than a full 1:1 translate_table replacement.

In the 2nd pass (step #3), change the 64bit ruleset back to a kernel
representation, i.e. put() the kernel pointer and restore ->u.user.name .

This gets us a 64bit ruleset that is in the format generated by a 64bit
iptables userspace -- we can then use translate_table() to get the
'native' sanity checks.

This has two drawbacks:

1. we re-validate all the match and target entry structure sizes even
though compat translation is supposed to never generate bogus offsets.
2. we put and then re-lookup each match and target.

THe upside is that we get all sanity tests and ruleset validations
provided by the normal path and can remove some duplicated compat code.

iptables-restore time of autogenerated ruleset with 300k chains of form
-A CHAIN0001 -m limit --limit 1/s -j CHAIN0002
-A CHAIN0002 -m limit --limit 1/s -j CHAIN0003

shows no noticeable differences in restore times:
old:   0m30.796s
new:   0m31.521s
64bit: 0m25.674s

Florian Westphal 1a10388eed netfilter: x_tables: don't reject valid target size on some architectures
commit 7b7eba0f3515fca3296b8881d583f7c1042f5226 upstream.

Quoting John Stultz:
  In updating a 32bit arm device from 4.6 to Linus' current HEAD, I
  noticed I was having some trouble with networking, and realized that
  /proc/net/ip_tables_names was suddenly empty.
  Digging through the registration process, it seems we're catching on the:

   if (strcmp(t->u.user.name, XT_STANDARD_TARGET) == 0 &&
       target_offset + sizeof(struct xt_standard_target) != next_offset)
         return -EINVAL;

  Where next_offset seems to be 4 bytes larger then the
  offset + standard_target struct size.

next_offset needs to be aligned via XT_ALIGN (so we can access all members
of ip(6)t_entry struct).

This problem didn't show up on i686 as it only needs 4-byte alignment for
u64, but iptables userspace on other 32bit arches does insert extra padding.

We're currently asserting that targetoff + targetsize <= nextoff.

Extend it to also check that targetoff is >= sizeof(xt_entry).
Since this is generic code, add an argument pointing to the start of the

We also need the e->elems pointer in a followup change to validate matches.

commit 7ed2abddd20cf8f6bd27f65bd218f26fa5bf7f44 upstream.

We have targets and standard targets -- the latter carries a verdict.

The ip/ip6tables validation functions will access t->verdict for the
standard targets to fetch the jump offset or verdict for chainloop
detection, but this happens before the targets get checked/validated.

Thus we also need to check for verdict presence here, else t->verdict
can point right after a blob.

Marco Angaroni 049c18dabc ipvs: correct initial offset of Call-ID header search in SIP persistence engine
commit 7617a24f83b5d67f4dab1844956be1cebc44aec8 upstream.

The IPVS SIP persistence engine is not able to parse the SIP header
"Call-ID" when such header is inserted in the first positions of
the SIP message.

When IPVS is configured with "--pe sip" option, like for example:
ipvsadm -A -u 1.2.3.4:5060 -s rr --pe sip -p 120 -o
some particular messages (see below for details) do not create entries
in the connection template table, which can be listed with:
ipvsadm -Lcn --persistent-conn

Problematic SIP messages are SIP responses having "Call-ID" header
positioned just after message first line:
SIP/2.0 200 OK
[Call-ID header here]
[rest of the headers]

When "Call-ID" header is positioned down (after a few other headers)
it is correctly recognized.

This is due to the data offset used in get_callid function call inside
ip_vs_pe_sip.c file: since dptr already points to the start of the
SIP message, the value of dataoff should be initially 0.
Otherwise the header is searched starting from some bytes after the
first character of the SIP message.

Andrey Vagin f79d019c4b netfilter: nf_conntrack: fix RCU race in nf_conntrack_find_get
commit c6825c0976fa7893692e0e43b09740b419b23c09 upstream.

Lets look at destroy_conntrack:

hlist_nulls_del_rcu(&ct->tuplehash[IP_CT_DIR_ORIGINAL].hnnode);
...
nf_conntrack_free(ct)
	kmem_cache_free(net->ct.nf_conntrack_cachep, ct);

net->ct.nf_conntrack_cachep is created with SLAB_DESTROY_BY_RCU.

The hash is protected by rcu, so readers look up conntracks without
locks.
A conntrack is removed from the hash, but in this moment a few readers
still can use the conntrack. Then this conntrack is released and another
thread creates conntrack with the same address and the equal tuple.
After this a reader starts to validate the conntrack:
* It's not dying, because a new conntrack was created
* nf_ct_tuple_equal() returns true.

But this conntrack is not initialized yet, so it can not be used by two
threads concurrently. In this case BUG_ON may be triggered from
nf_nat_setup_info().

Florian Westphal suggested to check the confirm bit too. I think it's
right.

task 1			task 2			task 3
			nf_conntrack_find_get
			 ____nf_conntrack_find
destroy_conntrack
 hlist_nulls_del_rcu
 nf_conntrack_free

						 kmem_cache_alloc
						 memset(&ct->tuplehash[IP_CT_DIR_MAX],
			 if (nf_ct_is_dying(ct))
			 if (!nf_ct_tuple_equal()

I'm not sure, that I have ever seen this race condition in a real life.
Currently we are investigating a bug, which is reproduced on a few nodes.
In our case one conntrack is initialized from a few tasks concurrently,
we don't have any other explanation for this.

commit 4754957f04f5f368792a0eb7dab0ae89fb93dcfd upstream.

Michael Vallaly reports about wrong source address used
in rare cases for tunneled traffic. Looks like
__ip_vs_get_out_rt in 3.10+ is providing uninitialized
dest_dst->dst_saddr.ip because ip_vs_dest_dst_alloc uses
kmalloc. While we retry after seeing EINVAL from routing
for data that does not look like valid local address, it
still succeeded when this memory was previously used from
other dests and with different local addresses. As result,
we can use valid local address that is not suitable for

Fix it by providing 0.0.0.0 every time our cache is refreshed.
By this way we will get preferred source address from routing.

Joe Stringer 6709d8bdf7 netfilter: nf_conntrack: Support expectations in different zones
commit 4b31814d20cbe5cd4ccf18089751e77a04afe4f2 upstream.

When zones were originally introduced, the expectation functions were
all extended to perform lookup using the zone. However, insertion was
not modified to check the zone. This means that two expectations which
are intended to apply for different connections that have the same tuple
but exist in different zones cannot both be tracked.

Jiri Slaby 19d4d4d204 core, nfqueue, openvswitch: fix compilation warning
Stable commit "core, nfqueue, openvswitch: Orphan frags in
skb_zerocopy and handle errors", upstream commit
36d5fe6a000790f56039afe26834265db0a3ad4c, was not correctly backported
and missed to change a const 'from' parameter to non-const. This
results in a new batch of warnings:

Remove const from the 'from' parameter, the same as in the upstream
commit.

As far as I can see, this leaked into 3.10, 3.12, and 3.13 already.

Harout Hedeshian 4e6b302a64 netfilter: xt_socket: add XT_SOCKET_RESTORESKMARK flag
xt_socket is useful for matching sockets with IP_TRANSPARENT and
taking some action on the matching packets. However, it lacks the
ability to match only a small subset of transparent sockets.

Suppose there are 2 applications, each with its own set of transparent
sockets. The first application wants all matching packets dropped,
while the second application wants them forwarded somewhere else.

Add the ability to retore the skb->mark from the sk_mark. The mark
is only restored if a matching socket is found and the transparent /
nowildcard conditions are satisfied.

Now the 2 hypothetical applications can differentiate their sockets
based on a mark value set with SO_MARK.

iptables -t mangle -I PREROUTING -m socket --transparent \
                                           --restore-skmark -j action

commit 681f130f39e10 ("netfilter: xt_socket: add XT_SOCKET_NOWILDCARD
flag") added a potential NULL dereference if an old iptables package
uses v0 of the match.

Fix this by removing the test on @info in fast path.

IPv6 can remove the test as well, as it uses v1 or v2.

Eric Dumazet dd79c16bda netfilter: xt_socket: add XT_SOCKET_NOWILDCARD flag
xt_socket module can be a nice replacement to conntrack module
in some cases (SYN filtering for example)

But it lacks the ability to match the 3rd packet of TCP
handshake (ACK coming from the client).

Add a XT_SOCKET_NOWILDCARD flag to disable the wildcard mechanism.

The wildcard is the legacy socket match behavior, that ignores
LISTEN sockets bound to INADDR_ANY (or ipv6 equivalent)

iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --syn -j SYN_CHAIN
iptables -I INPUT -m socket --nowildcard -j ACCEPT

Ian Wilson 7c6300bb49 netfilter: Zero the tuple in nfnl_cthelper_parse_tuple()
commit 78146572b9cd20452da47951812f35b1ad4906be upstream.

nfnl_cthelper_parse_tuple() is called from nfnl_cthelper_new(),
nfnl_cthelper_get() and nfnl_cthelper_del(). In each case they pass
a pointer to an nf_conntrack_tuple data structure local variable:

    struct nf_conntrack_tuple tuple;
    ...
    ret = nfnl_cthelper_parse_tuple(&tuple, tb[NFCTH_TUPLE]);

The problem is that this local variable is not initialized, and
nfnl_cthelper_parse_tuple() only initializes two fields: src.l3num and
dst.protonum. This leaves all other fields with undefined values
based on whatever is on the stack:

    tuple->src.l3num = ntohs(nla_get_be16(tb[NFCTH_TUPLE_L3PROTONUM]));
    tuple->dst.protonum = nla_get_u8(tb[NFCTH_TUPLE_L4PROTONUM]);

The symptom observed was that when the rpc and tns helpers were added
then traffic to port 1536 was being sent to user-space.

Merge commit 'v3.10.73' into LA.BF64.1.2.9

This merge brings us up to date with upstream kernel.org tag v3.10.73.
As part of the conflict resolution, changes introduced by commit 72684eae7
("arm64: Fix up /proc/cpuinfo") have been intentionally dropped, as they
conflict with Android changes msm-3.10 kernel to solve the problems
in a different way. Since userspace readers of this file may depend on
the existing msm-3.10 implementation, it's left as-is for now. The
commit may later be introduced if it is found to not impact userspaces
paired with this kernel.
